Licensing: Licensing artwork involves granting permission for the use of a specific design or set of designs, for personal or commercial purposes, over a defined period, for example, 1 or 2 years. When a designer licenses their artwork, they retain ownership of the intellectual property rights while allowing others (the licensee) to use the patterns according to agreed-upon terms and conditions. These terms may include limitations on usage, license duration, exclusivity rights, and compensation arrangements.

Step 1: Email Discovery:

If you're interested in one of my existing artworks or have a custom design in mind, email me at [email protected]. Please include details about your product, such as the number of designs you need, any references, mood boards, or descriptions of colourways, scale, and print style you are envisioning. I will review your inquiry and respond within a couple of days for any additional details I might need.

Step 2: Licensing Agreement:

Once I have a good handle on the project scope, we will discuss rates, and timelines, negotiate payment details, and create a contract with clear terms and conditions for our collaboration. This agreement outlines how you use the patterns, ensuring a smooth and mutually beneficial partnership.

Step 3: Sketching Process:

Now that the paperwork's sorted, let the fun begin! If your initial direction needs tweaking, I'll gather references to ensure we're aligned. If you've got a clear vision, I'll start sketching away. I'll usually offer a limited number of options for you to review and request revisions as needed. Once we've nailed the sketches, I'll dive into the first full-colour draft.

Step 4: Files Delivery & Payment:

When you give the green light, I'll swiftly prepare the digital files in formats tailored to your needs. Finalise the design and put it into repeat if necessary. Depending on the project, we can discuss a one-time flat fee or a royalty-based payment – an agreed-upon percentage of your gross sales of the products, conveniently settled on a monthly or quarterly basis. Upon confirmation of payment, you'll receive the high-resolution file in your preferred format for your products.
